A District Spotlight: Shifting to eLearning and How to Measure Effectiveness

Join this edLeader Panel as they examine the shift to eLearning with Santa Fe Public Schools in New Mexico. Neal Weaver, Ph.D., Executive Director of Digital Learning at Santa Fe Public Schools, will share the district’s digital journey from classrooms to eLearning. Learn how this district is using data analytics to ensure students are safe and engaged in their eLearning experiences. In addition to receiving recommendations and strategies for enhancing your remote learning program, you will learn how to evaluate and review your initiatives with CatchOn, a data analytics program that gives you visibility into your district’s digital learning resources and into usage at school and at home.

This edLeader Panel will be of interest to school and district leaders of preK through high school grade levels. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

Neal WeaverAbout the Presenters

Neal Weaver, Ph.D., serves as Executive Director of Digital Learning at Santa Fe Public Schools in New Mexico. Through Dr. Weavers’ guidance, SFPS maintains a future-ready network, more secure and responsive to the needs of education. In addition, the district provides the technology needed to support best practice teaching and learning. Dr. Weaver developed a Digital Learning Coach team, who serve as a critical support in expanding the digital learning for SFPS staff and students. In short, his goal is to create and develop a culture in which technology serves as a natural, yet vital, support for best practice teaching and learning. Dr. Weaver is a National Board-Certified Teacher and a Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL). He holds an M.A. in instructional technology and a Ph.D. in education leadership, and his dissertation centered on the creation of data-driven professional development programs for K-12 districts.

Leo BrehmLeo Brehm serves as the product manager for CatchOn, Inc. He is an accomplished senior executive, consultant, board member, and thought leader with more than 22 years of success in the education and e-learning industries. Leo has been actively involved in the design and development of the CatchOn API, which empowers school districts to use data in aggregate with student performance, leveraging dashboarding business intelligence tools. He has worked for the Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough, MA as Director of Technology and Digital Learning; Newton, MA Public Schools as Director of IT and Library Media; Sharon, MA Public Schools as Director of Technology; and as a consultant at Creativemindz Consulting Group LLC. He has a proven history of dedication to the advancement of learning through a schooling model that is both student-centered and personalized.

Monica CouganAbout the Host

Monica Cougan is Product Marketing Manager at ENA, where she leverages her more than 35 years of experience in education and technology to help schools make the most of new technology. Throughout her career, Monica has been an evangelist for the adoption of technology as a transformative educational tool. She also has extensive experience helping K-12 schools implement 1:1 programs and in disseminating problem-based and project-based learning methodologies that focus on helping each student develop his or her own voice. Throughout Monica’s extensive career, she has sought out the diverse experiences required to know how to implement positive changes in education: she has served as a classroom teacher, adjunct professor, and education consultant for national, technology-based curriculum companies. Away from the classroom, she has served as an independent math consultant, worked in curriculum development, evaluated research on school-based programs, and developed professional learning opportunities for educators looking for a new mastery of technology.
