Wide Open School is a free collection of the best online learning experiences for kids curated by the editors at Common Sense. A group of more than 25 organizations came together and raised their hands to help, and many more are joining on a daily basis.
Wide Open School exists in the hope that learning from home is made easier and is an experience that inspires kids, supports teachers, relieves families, and restores community.
In a matter of days, the site was built with the shared vision of building resources and support until life gets back to normal. Be sure to watch for new features and content partners frequently, as there may be additional content made available for your specific needs.
With the world beginning to understand and deeply appreciate educators, Wide Open School celebrates both teachers and parents as they take on this new challenge. It is Wide Open School’s hope that outstanding teachers and support staff will accept invites to share tips and wisdom on the site to assist others in lighting up their students’ online classroom experience.
Wide Open School understands that millions of kids are without home broadband and/or computers, leaving them without access to critical learning and support services. Persistently highlighting the need to connect all kids, the organization won’t rest until the digital divide is closed. In the meantime, Wide Open School is offering many resources that can be completed offline and on smartphones, as well as bilingual and English-language learner materials.
